Georgia baseball battles story book in regional
Don’t blink when the Owls bat
Not to be ignored are the Florida Atlantic Owls. They just come in second to the FSU story line.
The Owls earned the number two seed in the Athens Regional by winning forty games and the Conference-USA regular-season title.
Under-hyped defense
Florida Atlantic led the C-USA and ranks twenty-first nationally with a .299 batting average and eight nationally in number of hits. The Owls also led the conference in homeruns, and like every other team in Athens this weekend, rank in the top 50 nationally (number 44 with 60.)
FAU needs to score runs as the pitching staff allows 4.8 earned runs per game. Four FAU pitchers sport a sub 4.00 ERA, however, and the Owls field at a decent .973 clip. This Owl team is not to be dismissed, either.
