Georgia football currently has two defensive tackles in the 2020 recruiting class. Today, we take a look at what Nazir Stackhouse brings to the table and how he could contribute early next season.

Right now, for the 2020 recruiting class, Georgia football has 10 commitments. According to 247Sports, the Bulldogs rank as the No. 5 overall and No. 3 SEC classes. Georgia also has a 94.56 average rating per commit.

Of those 10 pledges, two of them are defensive tackles. Nazir Stackhouse and Jamil Burroughs are two Peach State kids that have been loyal members of the 2020 class.

Burroughs is from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia while Stackhouse is from Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia.

We talked about Burroughs in a previous post and how he can be a great hole filler for the defensive line. Now we get to focus on Stackhouse and how special he can be.

According to his 247Sports profile, Stackhouse ranks as the No. 230 overall player, the No. 24 DT and the No. 25 player in the state of Georgia. However, in my opinion, that is a little low.

Stackhouse sits at 6-3.5 and 306 pounds.  At the Nike Opening Regional, he clocked in a 5.38 40-yard dash.

Now he didn’t produce the fastest numbers or the best results at the Opening, but he is still growing into his frame. Stackhouse could stand to lose some weight. However, he does a great job on the defensive line and could be a force at the next level.

Stackhouse knows how to utilize his body to move offensive lineman. He’s smart on the football field and has good tangibles. Stackhouse needs some fine-tuning and development, but at the same time, he’s raw enough that he can make plays without it having to be 100 percent technically right.

He won’t likely be a starter right away, but if he works hard once he gets there and pays attention to what the coaches have to say, he could see some significant playing time on the field.

Stackhouse will have plenty of opportunities to compete for a spot as Julian Rochester, Tyler Clark, and Michail Carter, all graduate off the defensive line. Now Malik Herring will be a senior when Stackhouse comes in, and Jordan Davis will be a junior, so there will still be talented guys in front of him, but he will get the chance to learn from them and compete with them.

Georgia football desperately needs talent on the defensive line along with depth. Stackhouse and Burroughs are two pieces, but I don’t believe the Dawgs are done recruiting on the defensive line in 2020.

He needs to use his charm and love for Georgia and help recruit some more guys on the defensive line to come to Georgia. Stackhouse’s enthusiasm about the football program in Athens should at least begin to convince any other recruit out there that Georgia is the place to play football.
