Darnell Washington

Darnell Washington isn’t your usual tight end prospect. He is 6-7.5 and 248 pounds. Yes, you read that correctly. Washington could play on the defensive line or as a linebacker, but he wants to play tight end at the next level.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Washington ranks as the No. 11 overall player, the No. 1 ATH, and the No. 1 prospect out of Nevada. He runs a 4.78 40-yard dash as well.

On May 27, he released his top 12 schools, including Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, FSU, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State. However, I  think he will narrow this down even more before the football season.

Washington has long strides that make him fun to watch on the football field because boy can he cover some ground. He’s a strong pass catcher and well at his size is a nightmare for any secondary player.

What he needs to work on the most will likely be getting more fluid with his routes and blocking. Washington isn’t the most polished blocker, but with the right development, he will be quite impressive to watch.

Georgia seems to be one of the teams to beat right now. The other team is Alabama.

In my opinion, Washington is one of Georgia’s top-two picks at the tight end position. He has the upside to be developed into a nice football player and well it’ll give the quarterbacks a massive target to hit over the seam.

Washington hasn’t been to campus since March, but that will likely change. I  think tight end coach Todd Hartley will have him on campus as soon as possible and will visit him as often as he can.

I  like Georgia’s chances right now and it’ll likely come down to the Bulldogs and the Tide. If Georgia lands him, could this finally be the tables turning? Guess we will find out soon enough.
