Four 2020 Tight end prospects Georgia Football’s Eyeing
Arik Gilbert
Arik Gilbert has to be one of the most impressive athletes I’ve seen on the field. He is 6-5.5 and 245-pounds. Like Darnell Washington, he could play linebacker or any position he wanted to, but he has chosen to play at the tight end position, lucky for Georgia.
Gilbert is from Marietta and is at the top of the Dawgs recruiting list. According to 247Sports Composite ranking, he ranks as the No. 12 overall player, the No. 2 ATH the No. 2 prospect in Georgia, the No. 124 all-time player, and runs a 4.83 40-yard dash.
On June 3, Gilbert released his top-10 including Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Oklahoma, USC, Clemson, LSU, Alabama, and Texas A&M.

He is a monster on the football field. Gilbert has long limbs and is a football natural. He plays on both sides of the ball for his high school team and does a good job. Gilbert is a huge mismatch for defensive backs and can go up for those jump balls.
Gilbert is a competitive guy and has a great attitude. In my opinion, he could likely end up making a better defensive end but would love to have him play any position as long as it’s in the red and black.
He does a good job of blocking and route running but can always improve. Gilberts raw and Georgia seems to like it a lot.
If I were Georgia, I would bring him in as a tight end to help out there and if he doesn’t develop as he should, then try him on the defensive line. The Bulldogs can always use some help on the D-line.
Tennessee is likely a sleeper to land Gilbert because teammate Harrison Bailey is currently committed to the Vols. However, I don’t see him going anywhere but to the Classic City. Gilbert seems to want to play for the ‘G,’ and in my opinion, it’s already a done deal, he’s just enjoying his recruiting process.
Gilbert is at the top of the list and first priority when it comes to Georgia football’s tight end recruiting. He will be one of the tight ends, and I think one of the other three guys could be as well.
If Hartley pulls in one 5-star tight end, that’ll be impressive, but he has the chance to land two. Now that’s a statement heading into his first year as Georgia’s tight end coach.
