2013 Overtime Win against Georgia Tech

Scott Howard put this call at No.4 on his list, but it’s No. 8 on ours.

If Dawg fans remember this was one of those games that Georgia allowed Tech to hang around a little too long. The Dawgs eventually beat the Yellow Jackets 41-34, in Atlanta but it took two overtimes.

Todd Gurley had a 100-yard game, and yet the defense couldn’t find a way to stop Tech’s triple-option.

Gurley helped the Dawgs get the lead in the final overtime with a 25-yard run. Then it was up to the tired defense that spent 36:10 on the field.

Somehow the Dawgs found a way to bat the ball down in the endzone. Who would have thought Tech tried to beat Georgia with a passing play, especially after running the ball five plays in a row.

The Dawgs stopped them on 3rd and 2  with a 3-yard loss to make it 4th and 5. Here’s where Howard comes in and just nails it.

“Here’s the ball game, snap to Lee he’ll throw it endzone it’s batted in the air and knocked away. IT HITS THE GROUND! WE HIT THE GROUND; WE BATTED IT DOWN, DAWGS WIN IT IN OVERTIME!”

Howard can’t believe it, Georgia’s defense can’t believe it, but they found a way. So it makes the list because right away it reminded me how frustrating that game was.
