Nails in the Coffin

No. 3 on the list comes in one of the best Georgia/Florida games in recent memory.

The call came from the 42-7 win over the Gators in 2017. Georgia was up 28-0 when the Gators got the ball on their own 19-yard line. Feleipe Franks lost a yard on the first play but regained some momentum when he completed a pass to Tyrie Cleveland for five yards on the next play.

Howard describes the play perfectly. He even goes as far as telling you that Franks has to tie his shoe. When he sees the pressure coming, Howard gets excited, and when he notices the balls out, he loses his mind.

“Third down and six for the Gators, they’re just 30 percent on third down conversion tries, 3-for-10. Now Franks bends down, kneels down to tie his right shoe. Now he’s back up and ready, play clock at nine. He’s in the shotgun, they work on the far hash, moving right, they slide a man in motion from the edge, Franks, here comes pressure, we chase him out of the pocket, OHH MY GOODNESS we clobbered him, he lost the ball, we pick it up and run it into the endzone. TOUCHDOWN! JR Reed picked it up on the two and just scored. Tyrique McGhee with the hit, he leveled the Florida quarterback back inside the five, the ball came out and the nails are going into the coffin, it’s 34-0!”

But when Howard says the nails are going into the coffin, it put the icing on the cake. After the Bulldogs struggling against the Gators for so long, having a huge blow out win over them is sweet revenge.

Any win over the Gators is a big one, but when its a 42-7 win over your arch nemesis its the best feeling ever, and boy did nailing those nails into that coffin feel so good.
