Georgia Football: Four Sleepers for the 2019 Season
There is no doubt that the number of superstars on a team plays a role in a make or break season, but sleepers can be just as deadly. We take a look at four players that are sleepers on the Georgia Football’s roster.
The Georgia football roster is filled with stars, future first round picks, and potential al-Americans. There are also those who have the potential to become one of those players.
It seems every year that one player ends up showing out during the season when nobody was talking about them before the season.
Before I list off the four players that I feel will be those sleeper picks for the Dawgs, let’s lay down the definition of what makes a player a sleeper.
A sleeper is someone who goes above and beyond what’s expected of them and becomes a star when no one expected them to.

Georgia fans know what they are getting with Jake Fromm, D’Andre Swift, and Andrew Thomas but those three stars have overshadowed some other players who could play a crucial role in the upcoming season.
Tyler Simmons
Most people know Tyler Simmons due to the horrendous offsides call during the National Championship two seasons ago.
You know the one that ultimately cost the Dawgs a championship as Simmons went on to block the punt.
After the 2019 season though, Simmons will be known as a solid wide receiver. Due to players like JJ Holloman, Mecole Hardman, and others, Simmons has flown under the radar.
Simmons has game-breaking speed as he runs a 4.41 40 time. With a quarterback like Fromm, I expect Simmons to have a very solid season and rise above the depths of darkness and into the spotlight.
Ameer Speed
Ameer Speed is a redshirt sophomore that stands at 6’3 211 pounds as a defensive back.
Currently, Georgia’s secondary is a big question mark as Coach Smart will be forced to play some guys who are young and inexperienced.
Speed has great quickness and a massive frame for someone at his position.
The Bulldogs are going to need some guys to step up at the defensive back, and Speed could very well become an impact player at the position this upcoming season.
Adam Anderson
Georgia has produced some studs at the linebacker position in recent years with Roquan Smith, Lorenzo Carter, and Davin Bellamy.
Being just a sophomore and standing at 6’5 and 225 pounds, Adam Anderson has great potential to become a star player for Georgia.
Recently all of the attention has been on Tae Crowder, Monty Rice, and upcoming freshman Nolan Smith but no one has been talking about the former 5-star.
Pressuring the quarterback has been an issue for Georgia and Anderson could help take care of that issue.
Matt Landers
Matt Landers is a 6’5 wide receiver for Georgia.
Landers has had some issues catching the ball, but the potential is there for Landers.
Coach Smart has mentioned a few times how well he practices, so now it is just a matter of translating that onto the field.
Georgia will have a very young receiving core for the most part next season, and if Landers can gain some confidence, he could become a reliable deep threat for the Dawg’s offense.
Expectations for Georgia are high once again and as Dawg fans have discovered it takes more than just a couple of stars to get to win a National Championship.
These four players have the potential to play a significant role in the upcoming season, and one of these players could make contributions to Georgia’s success in the 2019 season.
So there it is, my four sleeper picks for the upcoming 2019 season. If you have any players you feel are potential sleepers be sure to share your opinion with us.
