Georgia football recruiting has hit a hot streak in June, and it may not be over yet. The Bulldogs landed its second wideout for the 2020 class on Thursday.
In the words of DJ Khaled, ‘and, another one.’
Georgia football adds its fourth pickup for June on Thursday when 4-star wide receiver Marcus Rosemy committed to the Bulldogs through Twitter.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Rosemy ranks as the No. 39 overall, No. 6 WR and the No. 4 player in Florida.
Rosemy is the fifth player out of the state of Florida in this recruiting class. I don’t think the Bulldogs are done in the Sunshine State either.
He is Georgia’s second wideout for the 2020 class joining Justin Robinson. Rosemy is 6-2 and 187 pounds and goes to high school at St. Thomas Aquinas.
The battle for him came down to Georgia and Ohio State. However, Florida was in the mix as well. He just came off his Florida official visit on June 14 and committed to the Dawgs six days later.
His Florida visit was his first official visit, and I expect him to take one to Athens as well.
Rosemy runs a 4.59 40-yard dash and 247Sports compares him to Riley Ridley. As a junior, he played in 13 games and led the team with 37 catches for 764 yards averaging 20.6 yards a catch and catching eight touchdown passes.
His speed allows him to blow past defenders, but he is also tough. Rosemy’s tall, but he isn’t afraid to go up and catch those jump balls. He isn’t scared to take a hit either.
Rosemy has great route running ability and some smooth moves. He sees the ball well and has a great set of hands. When defenders go to tackle him, they better use more than just an arm tackle because he isn’t going down on an arm tackle. That shows especially averaging 20.6 yards a catch.
He isn’t afraid to throw a block for a teammate either. I like that he included that in his junior film highlight reel.
Rosemy is a talented player that understands the wideout position. He seems smart enough to come in and be a guy to learn the playbook quickly.
After the 2019 football season, Tyler Simmons and Lawrence Cager will both graduate. Then four juniors could choose to go to the NFL Draft.
Jeremiah Holloman, Trey Blount, Matt Landers, and Demetris Robertson will all have the option to stay another season or move onto the NFL.
Rosemy has a great opportunity to come in and attempt to earn some playing time right away because the Bulldogs could need him to do so.
I think Georgia fans know the team picked up a talented receiver with Rosemy, but at the same time, I don’t think we’ve seen the best yet. He’s got a high ceiling and should make a fine addition to Georgia’s class and eventually the team.
Georgia currently has 14 commits for the 2020 recruiting class, and rank as the No. 4 overall and the No. 3 SEC class. The Bulldogs average rate is 93.03 per commit. Don’t be surprised if commitment No. 15 and 16 happen sooner than later.
