#5: Blair Walsh

Blair Walsh was Georgia’s kicker from 2008 to 2011.

Walsh is one of those guys that seemed to get overlooked for his efforts in Athens but makes it at No. 4 on this list because this guy had one hell of a leg on him.

During his four years at Georgia, he made 184-of-185 of point after points (PAT) and 76-of-103 field goals (FG). He made 74 percent of his field goals which ranks No. 6 on Georgia’s career field goal percentage record.

He’s No. 1 for most games kicking at least one field goal going 45 games with at least one field goal.

Walsh also had 292 kickoffs with 52 touchbacks, 13 out of bounds and a 63.7-yard average.

He scored 412  points during his time at Georgia. That number is the record for most career points kicking at Georgia, and one of 16 total records that he is still one of the top 13 in.

Walsh still holds an NCAA record and SEC record as well. He went 45 straight games with at least one field goal ranging from 2008-11. The SEC record Walsh still holds is most career points scored with his 412 points.

His name shows up at least once on 18 different records for Georgia.

Walsh made his debut vs. Georgia Southern in 2008 when he made a 52-yard field goal on his first career attempt. What a way to make an entrance.

Another memorable moment came in 2009 against Arizona State. Walsh made two 4th quarter field goals, a 21-yarder and a 37-yarder as time expired to give the Bulldogs a win.

His longest field goal made was a 56-yarder against Coastal Carolina in 2011.

He was 1-of-3 Lou Groza Award finalists in 2009 and was a semifinalist for the same award in 2010.

However, in my opinion, he may be known for his points scored but should be known for how many career field goals he made that were over 50 yards.

Walsh made 10 50+ yard field goals in his four years at Georgia. He made 2-of-5 from 50+ in 2008, 4-of-5 in 2009, 2-of-2 in 2010, and 2-of-5 in 2011. Overall he attempted 17 50+ yarders completing 58.83 percent of them.

He was 19-of-29 from 40-49 yards, 24-of-32 from 30-39 yards, and 23-of-25 from 20-29 yards.

Walsh comes in at No. 5 on this list because he’s all over the record books and known for being one of the best kickers during his time. He came in clutch more than once for the Dawgs and damn he had a strong leg.
