George Pickens could be the best recruiting flip to happen for Georgia football after losing J.J. Holloman last week. Despite being an incoming freshman, he could be a huge asset.

Georgia football needs to find a replacement for losing J.J. Holloman last week, and I gave my prediction on who I thought could take that spot.

While Demetris Robertson and Lawrence Cager have the experience to do it, I also think that having George Pickens on this team could prove even more beneficial.

Pickens was a 5-star receiver from Alabama that was committed to Auburn for what seemed like forever.

We all thought it was over when he visited Auburn one last time on Feb. 3. Then he chose Georgia on Feb. 6, and it was the cherry on top of the loaded down cake the Dawgs signed in 2019.

After the whole Holloman ordeal, Georgia landing Pickens looks better and better. He is a massive receiver that could make an impact early.

Pickens is 6-3 and 190lbs, but I have a feeling he could be pushing 200 by the time football season starts. He already has a good background with blocking, and now he needs to focus on getting stronger and learning that playbook.

If he can take on that task and nail it, then he could be seeing significant time on the field.

We saw Holloman do something similar when he got to campus. However, I think Pickens could end up being another A.J. Green type receiver.

Pickens also comes from a high school that has an excellent reputation for developing solid collegiate football players.

He played at Hoover High School in Hoover, Ala. where he in his senior season, he collected 1,387 yards on 72 catches scoring 15 touchdowns.

Pickens is made for SEC football, and I hope new offensive coordinator James Coley utilizes him and lets the world see how impressive he is.  It wouldn’t surprise me at all if by the end of the season he isn’t starting.

I do think that we could see him game one or two, but that’ll depend if he can get down that playbook and work his tail off in fall camp and right now during summer workouts.

Georgia got the win of the 2019 class by flipping Pickens, and now the Bulldogs have the perfect opportunity to utilize him right out the gate as a freshman. While losing Holloman is a massive blow, the Bulldogs could get a get out of jail free card with Pickens, especially if he develops quickly and makes noise this season.
