Georgia football’s latest commitment is 3-star athlete Corey Wren and has an x-factor to help the Dawgs.

Georgia football has been very fortunate to have the speed they have had on offense in recent years.

That continues with the newly committed Corey Wren. He is the latest 2020 player to commit to the Dawgs on June 21 giving the Bulldogs 14 pledges in this recruiting cycle.

According to The New Orleans Advocate, Wren recorded a 100-meter time of 10.41 with a poor start and said he expects times in the 10.2s by season’s end. I would estimate his 40 between 4.3-4.4. The guy is FAST.

Wren can line up in the backfield, make plays out of the slot, as well as return kickoffs and punts.

He had a dynamic 2018-19 season for John Curtis Christian High School. Wren had 886 rushing and 95 receiving yards. He also had 284 yards returning kicks and punts. In total, he had 1,265 yards.

Wren can do it all, but I would say that he is more of a running back than a wide receiver. However, that could change.

He played in 25 games and rushed for 1163  yards, averaging 11.2 yards a carry scoring 15 touchdowns. He also had three rushes go for over 100 yards.

On the receiving end of things, he had nine catches for 115 yards, averaging 12.8 yards a catch.

Wren returned five kickoffs for 128 yards averaging 25.6 yards per return.

He also returned 11 punts for 170 yards, averaging 15.5 yards per return. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.

When I look at Wren’s tape, I see a bit of Isaiah McKenzie, or at least the potential to be a player like that.

Wren is faster, but McKenzie’s overall game was better. If Wren could polish up his receiving ability over his senior year he could be a weapon for the Bulldogs, much like McKenzie was.

I think Wren is a dynamic athlete and can bring a lot to the table, but he is raw.

There is a lot of talent there; it is just a matter of refining it. He can do amazing things with the ball in his hands in space though, and that is exactly where Georgia will try to get him with the ball.

Expect him to be used in a lot of jet sweeps, end arounds, and maybe even in the Wild Dawg.

He’s going to be an enjoyable player to watch and a nightmare for defenders once he gets some weight on him and keeps developing his overall game.
