Georgia football has an abundance of talent at the linebacker position, but who will be the starters for the upcoming season?

One place that Georgia football has loads of talent at is at the linebacker position.

I hopped on with Mark Rogers on his YouTube channel to talk Dawgs football and preview the linebackers.

While the Bulldogs have Tae Crowder, a redshirt senior that is a  veteran inside linebacker, however, some younger guys could make some serious noise.

If Crowder isn’t careful, he will lose his job to someone like Nakobe Dean. Crowder recorded 53 tackles with six tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback pressures, and two interceptions.

Dean came to Georgia from Mississippi, and boy can he ball on the field. In his high school career, Dean recorded an astounding 390 total, 222 solo tackles including 17 sacks and six interceptions.

He’s smart enough to learn the playbook quickly, and if he does, I think he will get on the field.

The Dawgs also have Quay Walker, Channing Tindall, Trezmen Marshall, and Monty Rice. I believe that by the end of the year it’s going to be Dean and Rice starting.

Georgia’s also got some studs at outside linebacker as well. The Dawgs are looking to find replacements for D’Andre Walker and Keyon Richardson. However, Georgia does return Walter Grant, Brenton Cox,  Robert Beal, and Nate McBride.

The Dawgs also have Nolan Smith, Jermaine Johnson, and Rian Davis coming in from the 2019 class.

Smith and Johnson both look like they’ve been in the SEC for at least a year and will be hungry to get on the field. Johnson had 58 tackles, eight sacks, and three fumble recoveries last season at Independence Community College.

The Bulldogs could end up having the best linebacker group in the country. I’m excited to see this group develop and get on the field. This position will likely end up my favorite because of Dean and others.

Georgia has been missing some leadership at the position since Roquan Smith, Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy left for the NFL. However, I get a different vibe from this group and it’s exciting.
