Mehkail Sherman is currently one of two five-stars in Georgia football’s 2020 class. While his counterpart Broderick Jones is more of the quiet type, Sherman makes it a point to recruit for the Dawgs publicly.

Georgia football landed its second five-star for the 2020 class on May 9, continuing the streak of landing top linebackers in consecutive classes. Sherman chose the Dawgs over Ohio State.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Dawgs rank as the No. 6 overall and the No. 3 SEC class.

Georgia has 14 members in this cycle so far, and more five stars could join the Dawgs sooner than later.

247Sports has Sherman ranked as the No. 10 overall, No. 2 OLB and the No. 1 prospect from Washington, D.C.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

Sherman is an impressive specimen of a linebacker, and the Dawgs snagged one of the best in the country.

He is incredible on and off the field. Sherman is a special player and seems to be one of the most humble high school kids on the internet.

According to his 247Sports profile, in 2017, Sherman recorded 51 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one interception.

He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 234-pounds and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash in the 2018 Nike Opening finals. Sherman has a great frame and carries that 234 pounds very well.

I would list more stats from him, but he missed most of his junior season due to injury, so his senior season is a great chance for him to come out and show the world how good he is.

We all saw how good he was during his sophomore season, so I’m incredibly excited to see him fully healthy again. Sherman tackles with a purpose and is textbook on his form.

He has excellent vision on the field and seems like a natural-born leader, and Georgia will need that when it’s his time.

The fact that he can see who Georgia has on its current roster at linebacker and still want to come here shows his character. Sherman wants to compete and compete with the best, and well, Georgia has some of the best linebackers in the country.

Georgia’s going to show him this season how much some of the young guys get on the field, and that should help secure his pledge even more.

However, Sherman is one of the guys I’m not worried about for the 2020 class. Once he committed to Georgia, I felt like the process was over for him. Now Sherman can enjoy his final season of high school football and get ready to come to the Classic City.

According to his 247Sports profile, Sherman is a summer arrival, but that may change and will be something I keep an eye on as football season approaches.

I’m excited that Georgia got Sherman because he was one of my key targets for the 2020 class. The Bulldogs keep bringing in talented linebackers and could add one more with this recruiting cycle.
