One of the biggest things fans and journalists took away from Georgia football’s 2019 SEC Media Day is the new motto for the team.

Georgia football’s new motto for 2019 is to ‘do more’ on and off the football field. Head coach Kirby Smart mentioned this in his opening statements on Tuesday, and since then, a t-shirt design has come out along with a flood of talk from fans all over social media.

Personally, I love the ‘do more’ message. I think it speaks on so many levels, and it seems that’s why Smart likes it as well.

To get anywhere in life, most people have to work their tails off until they reach that goal. What do you do to reach that goal?

You do more and that means doing whatever it takes to reach that goal and I think that is what the Dawgs are trying to accomplish this season.

During his opening remarks, Smart hit on confidence before going into how ‘do more’ is what his team will focus on for the 2019 season.

Smart talked about how excited he was for his fourth season, and that he felt like the team makes great strides each season.

He continues to say that 24-5 is a pretty good record for the last two seasons, but it’s not good enough and not what the expectations are at the University of Georgia.

Then he talks about the 2019 team mission and how it’s time to do more.

Smart said that he read a quote coming into Atlanta, and that he’s not a big quote guy, but that this one was something his players could relate with.

"“’Life has no remote. You got to get up and change it yourself.’  And if you think about that, so many of us want to take the easy way out, whether it’s changing the channel with the remote or anything else, not doing the work that has to be done, we want to do more at the University of Georgia,” Smart said. “We’re not complacent in what we’ve done, and we know we need to take that next step.”"

He finished his statement about pressure.

"“And for us, pressure is a reflection of ambition,” Smart said. “We put a lot of pressure on ourselves day in and day out. The stress and pressure we feel emanates from our building, from our coaches, from our players putting it on each other, from our university. We apply it every day.”"

In other words, Smart and his team know the pressure is on when it comes to getting over the hump that is Alabama.

However, at the same time, I think that Smart and his team want to do their thing the way they want because you cannot become great overnight.

To be great, it takes time, and I believe that Smart is on the right track for that.

He’s already got the culture changing extremely quickly. Now I think 2019 will be the season that we see the Dawgs get over that hump. There is enough talent on this team for it to happen.

Fall camp starts on Aug. 1 for the Dawgs, and I think we will hear, ‘do more’ a ton and that it will be what continues to motivate this team all year long.
