Charlie Woerner is heading into his final season playing for Georgia football. He also has a chance for greatness in 2019 because he finally is at the top of the depth chart.

Georgia football lost Isaac Nauta last season to the NFL Draft which left Charlie Woerner as the most experienced tight end on the field.

Woerner has flown under the radar since he got to Georgia but has had glimpses of greatness.

He had three catches against Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl and helped the Dawgs get that victory.

Last season, he had 11 catches for 148 yards. Throughout his entire career at Georgia, Woerner has 25 catches for 298 yards.

He has the chance to double that in 2019 because he doesn’t have to share the load with Nauta.

Woerner’s does a great job blocking and has had some impressive blocks in the last couple of seasons.

However, now that he’s the veteran in the tight end room, I want to see him strive for greatness.

He’s good enough to be on this team; now it’s time to put that talent and expose the world to it.

Georgia didn’t necessarily target the tight ends all that much last year or the year before that, but with James Coley, as the new offensive coordinator, I think we will see a lot of tight end play.

I fully expect to see a ton of two-tight end sets this season, and this position group gets more looks because they can catch the ball and can make plays like the wideouts do.

However, I also think that because the Dawgs are trying to land two 5-star tight ends for the 2020 class and both of them want to see that Georgia’s going to utilize the tight ends and let them make plays.

This year is the one that Woerner can have some fun with it. He is a senior, 2019 is the last time he will get to wear the red and black, so I want to see him explode onto the scene and make a ton of plays.

Georgia’s got a talented tight end room, and outside of Woerner, the guy with the most experience is Tennessee transfer, Eli Wolf.

If Woerner isn’t careful one of the young tight ends could take over his starting spot, so he better step up and do something about it if he wants to leave a legacy at Georgia.

However, I think Dawg nation finally gets to see Woerner put it all together in 2019 and he doubles his stats from last season.
