Georgia football has a ton of momentum with recruiting right now. The Dawgs currently have 16 commitments for the 2020 class and are looking to add more.

So far for the 2020 class, Georgia football has three 5- stars committed and has 16 total commits. The Dawgs rank as the No. 5 overall and the No. 3 SEC team on the 247Sports rankings.

After Milton committed on July 29, I got to thinking about exactly how many five stars the Dawgs could land in the class.

Since head coach Kirby Smart took the job, Georgia fans have gotten used to landing top-tier recruits, especially those highly sought after 5-stars.

According to 247Sports, in 2016, Smart’s first recruiting cycle, Georgia landed three 5-stars. Then in 2017, the Dawgs landed three more 5-stars. When the 2018 class wrapped up, Georgia had seven 5-stars in the class. In 2019’s class, the Dawgs signed five 5-stars.

So Dawg fans have gotten used to signing multiple 5-stars because that is the level of recruiting that Georgia’s reached. With the three 5-stars so far, Georgia could fill the remaining eight to nine spots with even more five stars.

How many 5-stars, though? I wanted to give Dawg fans a look at what Georgia would look like if it got each of the top remaining targets. So essentially this first class would be a dream class.

To put into perspective what the classes look like as a whole, I work with 247Sports Class Calculator to find out what score Georgia would have and end up if today was national signing day and no other team added another member.

I want to make it a point to say this is entirely my opinion and an experiment to give fans a glimpse at what could potentially happen if the cards all fell how Georgia wanted it too.

DB: 5* Kelee Ringo, 28.90 points

DB: 4* Jalen Kimber, 10.75 points

K: 3* Jared Zirkel, .32 points

Georgia would finish with 328. 23 points if it got all of the top prospects. The Dawgs could end up signing nine 5-stars, which is unheard of, and I understand why.

However, this class would be if the Dawgs signed a full 25 man class and if top-targets chose Georgia. While I’m not saying it couldn’t ever happen, I believe it is a slim possibility.

I make a monthly class prediction and believe the Dawgs take home 23-24 total guys, and since we’re looking at these numbers, I want to show what Georgia would finish with who I predicted will end up in this class.

Georgia would finish the recruiting cycle with 323.78 total points. I believe that Georgia could sign up to eight 5-stars right now and while I’ll happily eat crow if the Dawgs don’t. I have good feelings about most of the 5-stars up there.

Again this article is to look at what could happen.

It’s hard to imagine that the Dawgs could sign that many 5-stars. I think it can happen. If it were to happen, Georgia would jump and dethrone Clemson for the top recruiting class spot. However, those Tigers have a ton of talent and will finish strong themselves.

Right now, Georgia finishes with a top-three class and possibly the top class.

If Georgia wants to sign those eight 5-stars, the Dawgs will likely have to go undefeated and put on a show at the bigger home games. If any staff could do it, I think it’ll be the Dawgs. Hold onto your seats this ride could get interesting as we’re on the countdown to December for National Signing Day.
