Georgia football’s 2020 recruiting class is already impressive, but with recent news, it seems like the red and black recruiting train is heating up and prospects need to either get on or get left behind.

While it might be a dead period right now for Georgia football, the Dawgs have gained a lot of momentum with top targets.

According to 247Sports, the Dawgs currently have the No. 5 overall and the No. 3 SEC class with 16 members.

Georgia picked up 5-star Kendall Milton on July 29 and Chad Lindberg on July 28.

Since then, there has been some traction surrounding other five-stars. Steve Wilfong, 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting, recently put in a prediction for one of those five-stars in favor of Georgia, and that’s  Zach Evans.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

He is someone that I’ve been high on and think that Georgia has a great shot at landing.

That was before the last few days; now I’m even more confident that the Dawgs have this on the list in  December.

Evans continues to tweet about Georgia, post pictures on his Twitter and Instagram. While that may be him teasing Dawg fans, I don’t see him as that kind of recruit.

I think Evans is a running back that wants to go somewhere that has a stacked offensive line, a place where he can compete for championships at, and go where he fits in the best.

Well, Georgia checks off all three of those elements. Dell McGee can land this guy, but he cannot let off him until he signs the dotted line.

This situation with Evans joining Milton could be like when Nick Chubb and Sony Michel came in together. McGee can sell them with that point because both of those backs are in the NFL, one with a Super Bowl ring as a rookie.

Milton and Evans could be the next Chubb and Michel, and that alone would excite me if I were a running back prospect. If McGee pulls this off, it would shock the entire college football world and put him on the map as one of the best recruiters in the country. It would be the most epic mic drop in recent history.

I believe that if Georgia is highly successful in the 2019 season, it’ll make it that much easier for him to sign with the Dawgs. If I have to give competition, I believe it could be Texas A&M even though the Aggies aren’t in his final five.

If the Aggies are successful, anything could happen. However, the decision could become final at the Georgia vs. Texas A&M game.

Georgia has an excellent opportunity to land two five-star running backs since 2014, and the Dawgs have a better chance than some are giving them. Big things are coming to Athens, and Evans can either jump on the train or watch from another school.
