Georgia football released its 2020 schedule and that week three matchup has us excited.

There is no doubt that Georgia football and Alabama have become two top-tier programs in college football. Alabama, as we all know, has transformed into one of the greatest dynasties in sports history and much of that success coming from head coach Nick Saban.

With Saban reaching this high level of respect in the college football world, it has led him to develop some of the Nation’s best assistant coaches. One of those being Dawg Nation’s beloved, Kirby Smart.

From 2008-2015  Smart served the Tide as their defensive coordinator.

After holding that position for seven years, Smart built a very impressive resume which would allow him to land the head coaching job at his alumni Georgia.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

Since Smart took over as head coach in Athens, the Dawgs have risen back to the top, and Alabama has stayed where they have been for many years.

Both teams are playing at a high level of ball and because so the two coaches have gone head to head twice since Smart’s arrival in Athens.

The record as of now favors Saban at 2-0, but with a matchup announced in the 2020 regular seasons and both teams favored to win their division it is very likely fans will get to see more of the teacher vs. student matchup.

I am sure everyone will tell you that next offseason the focus will be getting ready for Virginia, but we all know that with Bama being the third game of the year that everything will gear towards getting prepared to face the Tide down in Tuscaloosa.

The Dawgs seem to do everything necessary to take down a Saban led team except finishing the drill in the fourth quarter.

If there is anyone who wants to beat Alabama the most, it would have to be QB1 Jake Fromm.

Against Bama, Fromm is 41-71 with four touchdowns and 533 passing yards. Fromm has proved to everyone that he can do what is necessary to take down a team on the level of Alabama all it takes is the ability to close out a game and stick a hobnail boot right to their nose as Munson would put it.

Both programs have been on recruiting tears, consistently ranked in the Top 5, and everyone has their eyes on Georgia for when they will finally get over “the hump.”

That very well could be this season in the SEC Championship Game, but one thing that is for sure is if Georgia doesn’t get their shot at Bama this year I would not be surprised to see some players return for their senior to have that guaranteed chance to take down the Crimson Tide.
