The early 2020 NFL Draft grades were released this week, and Georgia football had plenty of talent on that list.

While the 2020 NFL Draft is over a year away, the early draft grades are already out, and Georgia football had plenty on that list.

I have always been in love with team building. When I was a teen, I used to spend all kinds of time making trades, signing free agents, and drafting players on video games.

That transitioned to a love for scouting. During the offseason, I can not get enough scouting reports or film. To me, the Combine, Senior Bowl, East-West Shrine Game, and NFL Draft are must-see TV.

Well, it looks like Christmas has come early as Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, put out his preseason draft grades this week.

Here are his grades for Georgia’s players eligible to be drafted in 2020:

D’Andre Swift, RB, 1st
Andrew Thomas, T, 1st
Jake Fromm, QB, 2nd
J.R. Reed, S, 3rd
Richard LeCounte, S, 4th
Solomon Kindley, G, 6th
Rodrigo Blankenship, PK, 7th

Monty Rice, OLB, FA
Tyler Clark, DT, FA
David Marshall, DT, FA
Brian Herrien, RB, FA
Malik Herring, DE, FA
Tyler Simmons, WR, FA
Tyrique McGhee, CB, FA
Julian Rochester, DT, FA
Tae Crowder, ILB, FA
Lawrence Cager, WR, FA
Charlie Woerner, TE, FA

I do agree with most of these grades, for now, especially those from the second round on. Jake Fromm is on the fence for a lot of people as far as if he is a first-round prospect; a solid season will change that. Guys like J.R. Reed and Richard LeCounte need a little polish to move up a round or two.

Kickers are hardly ever taken early, so Rodrigo Blankenship is about where you’d see any kicker of his ability, may move up to the sixth-round but don’t expect much more than that.

Georgia has at least one prospect fall into every round, except the fifth. There are also a lot of guys that fell into the undrafted category. I believe a few of these guys will perform to a level worthy of getting drafted this year and help themselves in one of the many all-star games available to them after the season.

I believe that Monty Rice, Tyler Clark, and Malik Herring can all elevate their draft stock between now and April. I would like to see Tyler McGhee, Brian Herrian, J.R. Reed, David Marshall, Tae Crowder, Tyler Clark, Tyler Simmons, and Rodrigo Blankenship in the Senior Bowl, but I know just a few, if any, will be there.

Here is Mark Jarvis’ Senior Bowl watch list prediction which includes Brian Herrien, Lawrence Cager, Charlie Woerner, and Julian Rochester.

The Senior Bowl is one of the best places to showcase what you can bring to the NFL. I hope if any of these guys get an invite that they take advantage of the opportunity. If not they could always go to the East-West Shrine Game, an all-star game that even juniors that leave early are eligible to participate in and play.

Either way, any time you have an opportunity to showcase what you can do or improve on what you do, take it and make the best of it.
