Georgia football hosts Arkansas State on Saturday in its last cupcake game of the season before the gauntlet stretch begins. Here are three young bucks that could step up in a big way on Saturday.

After the first two games of the season, Georgia football’s off to a hot start on both sides of the ball.

The defense is creating havoc, and the offense is finding out who it is. We all know the Dawgs can run the ball, but the passing game has been something to keep an eye on and will continue to get watched this week.

Currently, Georgia’s averaging 296 yards on the ground, 224 through the air, and 520 total a game.  The Dawgs have a pretty balanced offense right now and want it to stay that way. If they continue to play like they are against the better opponents, watch out, it could be on for the Dawgs.

This week Georgia takes on a scrappy Arkansas State team that is a step up from last week against Murray State.

Against the Racers, a ton of players got the chance to get on the field and get some game reps.  Head coach Kirby Smart and his staff are already using that four-game rule before they choose to redshirt.

He likes using players that will benefit the team on the road, at home and neutral sited games.

Sometimes young bucks, for example, Jordan Davis need these cupcake games to prove their worth and get on the field, granted Davis was getting on the field no matter what last year, it was just a matter of time.

But guys like Travon Walker, Kenny McIntosh, Dominick Blaylock, and other stud freshmen who are competing for spots, these games allow them to step up and be that guy.

Georgia usually has a cupcake game at the beginning of the season and towards the end to revamp and get ready for the last couple of games, however, this year isn’t like that.

Instead, the Dawgs put their cup-cakes back to back to get ready for Notre Dame. We saw what the youngsters did last week. I’m excited to see what they’ve got in store for Arkansas State.
