Georgia football: 3 youngsters to watch against Arkansas State
Nolan Smith
Speaking of true freshmen working their ways onto the field, Nolan Smith has done that since arriving on campus back in January.
He’s played in both games so far and has collected four total tackles, three of which were solo. Smith also has 1.5 tackles for loss and sacks on the season and four quarterback hurries. While those numbers may not be as impressive, he’s causing havoc all over the field.
This week for him is one that should allow him to get more comfortable on the field and cause more trouble. I think that he could collect a sack or two in this game and hopefully force some much-needed turnovers.
I wasn’t too sold on Smith because you never really know how these highly-rated recruits will do once they get to college, but he’s impressed me so far.
It’s hard to tell if guys like Smith will pick up the challenge playbook right away or if they need some more time, and I’m just glad he didn’t need more time. Smith is so naturally gifted; I’m happy he has the brains to back it up and get on this field immediately.
He doesn’t shy away from work at all and is so naturally talented. Smith brings a spark to this defense, and I like seeing it from him.
This game is about solidifying his spot on the starting defense, and he does it in a big way. Smith is a freak athlete, and he’s smart as well. We’ve seen glimpses of greatness from him, and now with it being week three of the season, he shows out a little more and puts his mark on this defense already.
