3 things Georgia football’s offense must do against Notre Dame
By Eric Taylor
Week four is finally here for Georgia football. The game we have all been waiting for Georgia vs. Notre Dame, a heavyweight fight between two top-10 teams.
Georgia football gets its biggest test of the season, so far, this Saturday.
The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame is coming to town and are ranked No. 7 in the nation. The last time these two teams met, it was a thriller that came down to the wire.
It was in this game that Jake Fromm began to cement his legacy in Bulldog lore.
I think the Bulldogs have too much offensive firepower for the Irish. When I watched Notre Dame play Louisville, I saw a defense that could not stop the run.
Notre Dame ended up allowing the Cardinals to rush for 249 yards. Knowing what Georgia is capable of on the ground, this bodes well for the Bulldogs. Look for them to run early and often.
Where Notre Dame is impressive though is with their passing defense, boasting the fourth-best passing defense in the nation.
No quarterback that the Irish have faced has completed 50% of their throws or had a quarterback rating above 83. They give up an average of just 143 passing yards a game.
Georgia, on the other hand, averages 226 yards per game through the air. Notre Dame has not faced a quarterback as talented as Jake Fromm or a receiving core as skilled as Georgia’s.
Fromm has never had a game rating below 96. I do not believe that the Irish will be able to shut down Georgia’s passing game. After establishing the run the Bulldogs’ play-action will be unstoppable.
Here is what the Bulldogs need to do on offense to get the W.
