3 things Georgia football’s defense must do against Notre Dame
By Eric Taylor
Georgia’s defense will get tested Saturday night. How they respond will determine who comes out the victor in this classic matchup.
This showdown between Georgia football and Notre Dame will be a heavyweight bout for the ages.
Notre Dame comes into Athens ranked No. 22 in total yards per game, No. 19 in passing yards per game, and No. 45 in rushing yards per game.
Pretty low rankings for a team that has only played Louisville and New Mexico, two unranked teams. However, they are the highest-ranked offense on Georgia’s schedule this year.
The Irish are No. 7 in the nation, the highest-ranked opponent on Georgia’s schedule. The Bulldogs need to come out swinging and punch them in the mouth from the opening kickoff.
This game should be a physical one, so the Junkyard Dawgs can not allow themselves to get pushed around. Set a physical tone and send the Irish back home with their first loss.
To me, Georgia is the more physical group than Notre Dame.
I watched their game against Louisville, and I didn’t see a physically dominant team. The Bulldogs should be able to impose their will on these guys and bully them into submission.
As long as Georgia establishes the tone early, I believe they walk away with a victory. I do not see Notre Dame matching them in a slugfest. Georgia is too strong and too fast for the Irish to keep up with for a full game.
That said, here are the three things Georgia’s defense must do to stop Notre Dame.
