3 things Georgia football’s defense must do against Notre Dame

Dust off those spiked pads
Georgia has created just four turnovers this season. They have two interceptions and two recovered fumbles. This is the one place where the defense has not improved from last year.
Getting the offense a few more possessions against Notre Dame would help a lot especially in a close game.
Starting cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell both have three pass breakups this season. Georgia’s secondary as a whole has broken up 11 passes. Hopefully, they can turn some of those opportunities into interceptions.
As I pointed out earlier the defense has gotten 46 quarterback hurries and 12 sacks this year. It would help a lot if that pressure caused a few strip-sacks in this game. The defensive backs should also try to punch the ball out if a receiver makes a catch.
It also wouldn’t hurt to put a helmet on the ball when the running backs are trying to come through the line. Anything to put the ball on the ground and get it back for the offense.
The Irish have only given up one turnover all year. Of course, they haven’t played against a defense as furious as Georgia’s though.
Hopefully, Georgia can cause Notre Dame to make a few mistakes.
Saturday night will be just the third time these two teams have met. It should be a classic game between two of the most storied college football dynasties in NCAA history.
It will be a game we will look back on for generations. There are few teams with as deep a tradition in college football as these two.
As long as Georgia’s defense does these three things they should come out on top of this classic matchup.
