The SEC has shown their abundance of talent at the running back position this season. But where does Georgia football’s D’Andre Swift fall after three weeks of play?

Georgia football has D’Andre Swift as one of its 5-star running backs in its stable. Where does he rank among the rest of the SEC running backs? We took a look and ranked all the SEC backs through Week 3.

The SEC lost several talented running backs to the NFL draft last season with college stars Josh Jacobs, Damien Harris, Jordan Scarlett, Benny Snell, and Trayveon Williams all being drafted.

Even guys who were mainly back-ups like Chandler Cox and Cullen Gillaspia heard their name called on late day three of the draft.

Even with all of those talented backs leaving for the NFL, the SEC still has an abundance of star power at the position this year.

Some of the big hyped preseason names such as Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Devwah Whaley have failed to live up to those expectations.

However, other guys have come out of nowhere despite not generating the type of wide-spread news that others did throughout the summer (think of guys like Whaley’s teammate Rakeem Boyd).

With how many gifted runners are out there in the southeastern states, it’s fair to wonder how they are stacking up against each other so far this season through three weeks.

Even though we’re just a quarter of the way through the season, the guys in the backfield have shown what they can do and have, for the most part, solidified their place in the backfield of their team.

These rankings take into account a number of statistics that include, but aren’t limited to rushing yards, touchdowns, and yards per carry.

I’ve also included statistics such as receiving yards because in today’s game the ability of a back to contribute in the passing game is an important thing for him to be able to do.

I understand that some players can just start the season slowly, so a player’s raw athletic ability, their backfield situation, and how they performed over the entirety of last season all also played a role (albeit small) in the final rankings.

As the season goes on however more and more stock will be out into just the 2019 season, with the 2018 season having less and less bearing on the final rankings. Taking all these factors into account, I’ve generated what I feel are the top ten backs in the SEC through Week Three and five Honorable Mentions as well.
