Today’s the day that Georgia football and Notre Dame finally face off with each other after the longest week since it was the offseason. Can the Dawgs stay perfect against the Irish? Here are five things the Dawgs can do to remain perfect against Notre Dame.
Dating back to 1980 when the first matchup between Georgia football and the Irish was played was the start of it all. Now, there have only been a total of two games played in the series, but regardless the Dawgs have remained perfect against the fighting Irish.
If Georgia wants to keep the undefeated streak against Notre Dame alive, they must do these five things.
The first thing is they have to protect the ball. Giving a team more chances is a good way to lose ball games and can get a team in a bad spot very quickly.
This does not just go for one specific player. This goes for all of the offensive positions.

The offensive line needs to protect Jake Fromm and allow him to settle in the pocket to make his throws which also means Fromm doesn’t need to try to force anything.
The running backs need to keep a tight grip on the ball, and the same goes for wide receivers when the ball is in their possession.
Second thing Georgia needs to do is set the tone early.
Everybody knows that Sanford is going to be flooded with Georgia fans from everywhere in the United States so if we can jump on them early it would be hard for Notre Dame to flip the momentum back to their side.
Playing on the road is already hard enough so if Georgia can land the first couple of punches in the fight, then everything else should fall into place.
The third thing that Georgia needs to do is stick to their strengths and pound the rock. Notre Dame’s run defense is one of the worst in the country, and we need to take advantage of that.
It is fun to sling the ball around and throw deep balls, but when you have stable of running backs that we do, then you have to take advantage of that major disadvantage.
Establishing a running game will also allow for everything else to open up which will then give Fromm those chances to let one rip down the field to one of his stud receivers.
The fourth thing Georgia needs to do if they want to come out with a win is to get pressure on Ian Book. The last thing you want to do is let this guy have all day to sit in the pocket and rip the secondary apart.
Putting some pressure on Book and keeping him a little rattled will allow our defensive backs to make plays and play tight coverage.
If our defensive line can continue to get a push-up front then eventually it will cause them to make a mistake or two.
The fifth and final thing that Georgia needs to do has nothing to do with the guys on the field or the coaches. Dawg Nation has got to be up on their feet, creating all sorts of havoc for Notre Dame.
Sanford needs to be rocking, and the foundation needs to be shaking.
I don’t care if it is 1st and 10 or 3rd and goal every Dawg fan dressed in the red and black needs to be on their feet and just going ludicrous for the Dawgs!
If Dawg fans can do that all night, then it will make for a game that nobody will ever want to forget.
These things seem pretty simple to accomplish, and essentially they are. Bottom line is if Georgia wants to win this game, then they need to play their brand of football and establish themselves early before Notre Dame even gets a chance.
