Georgia’s had plenty of rest.

We all know the Dawgs are coming off of a bye week. All we could do was sit around hoping North Carolina was going to get the best of Clemson last Saturday.

Yes, Georgia had some issues with injuries and needed time to rest. Along with allowing players to get healthy, there’s something else the Dawgs have been working on offensively.

Following the Notre Dame game, head coach Kirby Smart made mention of opening up the passing game.

Through the summer and the early weeks of the season, questions were surrounding the experience level Georgia had at wide receiver. Because of this, quarterback Jake Fromm has had some limits concerning tossing the ball downfield.

Including the game against Notre Dame, Fromm has completed 62-82 passes and is averaging 9.6 yards per completion.

We all watched the first half against the Irish. There wasn’t too much when it comes to ripping off big chunks of yardage through the passing game.

Against the Irish, Fromm finished with 20 completions on 26 attempts and averaged 7.2 yards per pass.

The Bulldogs were forced to rely on running the ball, and that wasn’t as guaranteed as fans have gotten used to.

Georgia went into the locker room at the half, drank a little Poweraid, and the passing game was different in the third and fourth quarters.

This is something I think we’ll see even more of this week against Tennessee.

The bye week provided the perfect opportunity to work on getting some longer passes into the playbook. Fromm has had a few extra days to work on building even more confidence with his receivers down the field.

I think this plays a role in Georgia blowing out the Volunteers.
