Tennessee can’t and won’t stop the run

Now, what I’ve been waiting for because I’m a stat nerd. Numbers are kind of my thing. Stats are where I get to put some facts into it.

Tennessee hasn’t exactly had the most challenging season so far, outside of that junior college they played in their last game.

The Volunteers’ defense has been giving up an average of 339.8 yards per game, 190 through the air and 149.8 on the ground.

Later in the week, I’ll have an article published focusing on the Tennessee defense in much more detail. For now, all you need to know is Georgia will run the ball all over the Vols.

Yes, earlier I mentioned Fromm throwing the ball downfield, and that’s definitely going to happen.

Not all game though. Especially once Georgia gets up by 20 points.

D’Andre Swift and Brian Herrien are going to put in plenty of work. I also think they’ll both catch a couple passes coming out of the backfield, simply to keep the Tennessee secondary honest.

Remember, we’re talking about the Dawgs. Did you see Chubb rip off that big one against the Ravens? There’s a reputation to keep.

The Bulldogs have been able to run the ball for an average of 253 yards per game.

Swift has been good for 388 on the year, averaging over seven yards per carry. Herrien’s no punk either. He has three rushing touchdowns this year and averages 5.6 yards per run himself.

The Georgia Bulldogs are going to take advantage of the opportunity to work out a couple of kinks throwing the ball deep before facing some stronger competition.

Georgia will also pound the Tennessee defense with the run to buy the receivers a few extra seconds when they do throw the ball down the field. Smart knows what he’s doing.

The only thing left to do is sit back and watch.
