The Georgia football program got a huge commit from 2020 tight end target Darnell Washington

Georgia football once again nabbed a massive recruit. Not just in stature, but in size as well. Darnell Washington, a mountain of a man, stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 261 pounds. He has a five-star rating (0.9953) and is the No. 1 rated athlete in the nation, according to 247Sports. He will be playing tight end at the collegiate level.

Washington’s performance at The Opening this year was quite impressive. He ran a 4.75 40-yard dash, a 4.46 shuttle, jumped 29.90 inches, and ran an 11.34 100 meter dash.

To say that Washington is athletic is a grave understatement. He played basketball and ran track as well as played football in high school. He’s a huge matchup nightmare, especially in the red zone where he can use his body to go up and “rebound” over defenders.

You almost want to feel sorry for those linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties who will be tasked with slowing this kid down. When Washington is coming down the tracks it is best to just get out of his way.

Washington visited Georgia’s campus twice last year. Once for an unofficial visit on March 2nd and again on September 21st when Georgia played Notre Dame. He signed his letter of intent back during the Early Signing Period but decided to wait until the Under Armour All-American Game to make his announcement.

He becomes the first five-star tight end to come to Georgia since Isaac Nauta. Hopefully, the Bulldogs offensive coaches can find ways to get him the ball more than they did when Nauta was there.

With Charlie Woerner and Eli Wolf both leaving, Washington should have a chance to start right away and begin contributing to the Dawgs immediately. This kid is a sure-fire first-round NFL pick in three years. Georgia’s offense is now stacked with playmakers at every level.

The addition of Washington to a class that already includes Arian Smith, Jermaine Burton, Marcus Rosemy, and Justin Robinson makes heads spin. The amount of talent Georgia is going to have on the field in the passing game is not going to be matched by very many schools.
