Georgia high school quarterback Brock Vandagriff has committed to the G. Here is what that means for Georgia football going forward.

5-Star quarterback Brock Vandagriff has committed to the Georgia football program. He de-committed from Oklahoma and reopened his recruitment on January 1st. One of the main reasons he rethought his commitment to Oklahoma was the distance from his family. Vandagriff had always played where his family could see him every week and he wanted to continue that in college.

What is Georgia getting in Brock Vandagriff?

According to 247Sports.com, Vandagriff is a five-star (0.9942) quarterback who stands 6-3 and 198 pounds. He comes from Bogart, Ga. which is about 20 minutes from Athens. He ran a 4.69 40, a 4.4 shuttle, and had a vertical jump of 37 inches at The Opening last year.

Vandagriff has thrown for nearly 6,000 yards in his high school career. However, he can pretty much do anything on the football field. During the 2018-19 season, he threw for 3190 yards, completing 65 percent of his passes, while throwing 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

This is Kirby Smart‘s fourth five-star quarterback to commit to Georgia since he became head coach.

If that isn’t impressive enough, he also ran for 1,001 yards and four more touchdowns.

As a freshman, Vandagriff played everywhere. He played some at quarterback, some at wide receiver, he even kicked off and punted. The kid is an all-around athlete.

So, how can Georgia use a kid like Vandagriff? Just look at what Todd Monken was able to do with a young quarterback named Brandon Weeden. In 2011, while playing under Monken, Weeden threw for 4,727 yards, completed 72 percent of his passes, threw 37 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Georgia has never had a 4,000-yard passer before. The quarterback to get the closest was Aaron Murray in 2012 when he threw for 3.893 yards.

However, when Vandagriff graduates and gets on campus in Athens George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock will have just finished their second season. Also, freshmen Arian Smith, Jermaine Burton, Justin Robinson, and Marcus Rosemy will be finishing up their first seasons in the SEC. So he will be coming into a very good situation with some seasoned weapons to use in his first season.

The 2021 season could be a very exciting season for the Bulldogs. Especially on offense.
