Bulldogs and Tigers set to clash sooner than expected. Georgia Football will face Clemson in Charlotte, N.C. to kickoff the 2021 season.
A lot of Georgia Football fans my not remember when Clemson was a hated rival. However, the Tigers were another one of those teams wearing that “God awful orange” that Bulldog fans despise.
It has been five years since Georgia has played the hated Tigers from Clemson, but all that is about to change. Georgia recently announced that it will start the 2021 season against the Tigers.
Bulldog Nation will finally get to see how their Bulldogs match up against one of the best minds in college football, Dabo Swinney. Clemson also gets to ditch the scrutiny it has endured due to its extremely easy out of conference schedule. Either way one of college football’s oldest rivalries will be renewed in 2021.
In the series Georgia has dominated Clemson winning 48 of a total 64 games by a combined score of 1234 to 769. A series between these two teams would be good for both schools and it should come back to being in the rotation, at least every two years. It is beyond time to renew this rivalry, especially now that both are consistently in the top five in the polls. Not to mention two of the most talented teams in the country and those matchups are always fun to watch.
Anytime you have two of the best programs in the country going at it you have the possibility for something special. This matchup is no different. Just imagine if Clemson and Georgia match up in the College Football Playoffs this season only to kickoff next season at a neutral site again.
Either way this is a great opportunity for Georgia to show the world that it belongs on the same tier as Clemson and Alabama and a great opportunity for Kirby Smart to show that he belongs in the conversation with the best coaches in college football.
