2. David Pollack – Defensive end

The amount of awards David Pollack earned during his time in Athens is absurd. 2004 SEC Player of the year, 2004 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and Chuck Bednarik Award winner, and was on the first-team All-American list three years. Pollack would also go on to be selected 17th overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Unfortunately, Pollack’s professional career was cut short due to a severe back injury and retired after just three short seasons in the NFL. Nevertheless, Pollack is still greatly remembered for the havoc he wreaked on the field while dressed in the red and black.

One of Pollack’s most memorable plays came against the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2002 when Pollack intercepted Gamecock QB Corey Jenkins in the end zone to increase the Dawg’s lead 10-0 early in the fourth quarter. This play not only provided Dawg Nation with a memory to remember Pollack’s career by but also an everlasting taunt against the Gamecocks.

Pollack continues to endorse the University of Georgia as serves as one of the main voices on ESPN’s College Gameday show. Pollack does receive some heat occasionally when he makes the bold decision of picking against the Dawgs, but all-in-all Pollack reps the G with pride which plays a huge part in what makes him a “Damn Good Dawg.”
