Georgia football: Bulldog fans’ five favorite players, besides Herschel Walker
1. Nick Chubb – Running back
It wouldn’t be a fan favorite all-time UGA football player list without Nick Chubb somewhere on it. What’s not to like about Chubb? He was one of the many seniors that decided to return for one final season in 2017 and boy, did it pay off. That group of seniors delivered one of the most exciting seasons that any Dawg fan had ever seen. It wasn’t just his senior season though that made everyone fall in love with Nick Chubb, everything he did made you like him.
In his freshman season, Chubb rushed for 1,547 yards and scored 16 times. There was a big question going around that season if Georgia could fill the void of Todd Gurley’s absence and Chubb answered that question very quickly.
Chubb’s career stats at Georgia were 4,769 rushing yards, 6.3 YPC, and 48 total touchdowns. Had his sophomore season not been cut short in result of a knee injury he would have had a solid chance at beating Herschel Walker’s career rushing yard record.
His career continues now in the NFL as he was drafted 35th overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2018. He has quickly made a name for himself in the league as he was voted to the Pro Bowl this past season and many consider him to be a top-five back in the league right now.
Despite all of the success Chubb has had, one of the most impressive things about him is the way he carries himself. Going through a season-ending knee injury, coming back for his senior year because he loves the university, and doing it all without saying much about it. Chubb shows up, does his job, and then goes home. His football career alone is impressive but adding his humble personality on top of that is one of the biggest reasons why Chubb resides at the top of this list.
