What went right
Despite Arkansas’s sharpshooting and Georgia’s occasional lulls on offense, The Bulldogs still scored 99 points in a victory. What went right for the Bulldogs on Saturday?
Dominating the boards
Georgia has beaten a lot of teams on the boards this season, but rebounds haven’t always led to wins. Saturday, rebounds played a huge role in Georgia’s victory, especially the 13 offensive rebounds. Georgia used second chances to score 17 points. That’s a large chunk of the 99 points the Bulldogs finished with.
Arkansas didn’t get those second chances very often. The Bulldogs pulled down 27 defensive rebounds and only conceded seven offensive boards to the Razorbacks. Harris and Rayshaun Hammonds pulled down nine rebounds each, while Anthony Edwards and Toumani Camara each had seven boards. When that many players are contributing on the boards in a big way, winning is much easier. Arkansas, meanwhile, only had 29 rebounds and its leading rebounder (Sills) only had six boards.
Blazing hot start
Georgia can credit much of the win to the great start it had. When Hammonds drained a follow-up three-pointer four minutes into the game, the Bulldogs led 14-0. Three Bulldogs found the net in the 14-0 run, but Hammonds scored most with seven points.
