The Georgia football program and its fans miss out on an amazing G-Day Game experience in 2020 because of the COVID-19 outbreaks and subsequent cancellations of sporting events.

The 2020 G-Day Game was one to look forward to. Georgia football was forced to cancel the spring scrimmage and possibly all of spring practice because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Georgia football was set to begin spring practice on March 17 and it had scheduled the G-Day for April 18.

The offense has received most of the attention in the offseason with the hire of Todd Monken and the impending starting quarterback battle. But the defense had its own plotlines to make the G-Day Game even more interesting.

There was Richard LeCounte’s and Monty Rice’s ascension to leadership roles. The two have succeeded for Georgia football since their sophomore seasons in 2018 and are poised to lead the defense on the field, on the sidelines, in the locker room and on the practice field.

At the cornerback position there are battles for playing time very similar to that of the running back position. Despite being the incumbents, Eric Stokes’s and DJ Daniel’s starting jobs are not safe with several ultra-talented corners on the roster.

We would have loved to witness the battles culminate “Between the Hedges,” instead we’re left wondering what could have been. In more detail, here’s what we miss out on watching from Georgia’s defense this spring.
