SEC Nation: Georgia vs. Florida (Jacksonville)

Has the gap shrunk enough for the Florida Gators to surpass Georgia football in the SEC East, or is the gap about to grow again? Georgia has recent history and a juggernaut defense on its side. The Gators just can’t get past 20 points on this defense, which should be even better in 2020 barring injuries.

The question for this game and this season for Florida is how sustainable is their Todd Grantham led defense? Its been pretty good in two seasons at Florida, but it still struggles against good quarterbacks so much that, even in his least consistent season, Jake Fromm still picked it apart. And keep in mind, Grantham’s defense at Georgia was solid for two years before blowing up in the third.

Depending on quarterback play in the SEC, Florida could enter the game with a few losses. Then, what if Georgia’s quarterback (be it Jamie Newman, Carson Beck or D’Wan Mathis) has a big season? 2020 might not be a good year for that gap Florida fans claim is shrinking.

Regardless, the SEC Nation crew will be in Jacksonville, as always, to help entertain fans at the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Because of the environment and the history between the two schools, Georgia and Florida could enter Jacksonville win-less and SEC Nation will still arrive. The stakes are always high, but how high will they be this year?
