Georgia football fans are gearing up for another big year, so where will the Bulldogs finish in the SEC East this year?
The SEC East has been absolutely dominated by the Georgia football program for the last three seasons. The Bulldogs have only lost one game to a divisional rival since 2017, that being last year’s double-overtime upset loss to South Carolina.
In 2020, Georgia will be looking to continue their run of division titles with a new quarterback at the helm — Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman — and a new offensive coordinator, Todd Monken.
Obviously, with no spring practices or drills and no spring game to showcase some talent, it’s difficult to tell what each team will be bringing. Breaking down the SEC East here in the preseason, here’s how the division could stack up once the season kicks off.
Can the Georgia football team make it four in a row?
2020 Recruiting Class Rank: No. 52
Regular Season Prediction: 3-9, 1-7 SEC
How long will Vanderbilt keep rolling with head coach Derek Mason? It’s surprising he’s lasted this long. After a taste of success with James Franklin before he moved on to Penn State, the Commodores have posted a paltry 27-47 record under Franklin in his six seasons as head coach.
The ‘Dores have never won more than three conference games under Franklin in any given season, and that doesn’t look to change much in 2020.
The bright spot for Vanderbilt will be running some solid players returning on defense, but the offense will really struggle, losing leading rusher Ke’Shawn Vaughn, wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb and tight end Jared Pinkney this year.
Don’t be surprised if Mason is gone before the season ends.
