UGA football: Bulldogs racking up linebackers with Chaz Chambliss commitment
UGA football added an eighth player to its 2021 recruiting class Tuesday with Chaz Chambliss’s commitment. Chambliss is a linebacker from Carrollton.
Kirby Smart and the UGA football coaches pegged linebacker as a priority in the 2021 recruiting class and they have already found success at the position early in the recruiting cycle.
Four-star outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss joined the recruiting class Tuesday when he committed to Georgia over Alabama, Clemson and a long list of other power-five programs. Chambliss is the second linebacker in Georgia’s 2021 class after edge rusher Elijah Juedy.
Chambliss has wreaked havoc in for Carrollton High School in Georgia’s Region 7-AAAAA. He plays with a ruthless aggression football player, but he also plays under control and has a really high football IQ. Chambliss seems to recognize the play call instantly and knows exactly where the ball is heading. He is certainly a player other teams have to gameplan for.
The best part of Chambliss’s game though is his hustle. Chambliss does not stop running towards the ball, it doesn’t matter how far away the ball is. Teams try to play on the opposite side of the field and he still makes tackles. His motor is constantly running, that’s a trait that translates to every level of the sport.
247Sports Composite lists Chambliss as an outside linebacker, but he’ll more likely play inside linebacker in Georgia’s 3-4. Though he is a pretty good pass rusher off the edge as well and he has the technique to back it up. Chambliss could be a player the Georgia coaches plug into multiple roles on defense.
UGA football is finished recruiting linebackers for the 2021 class. The coaches are looking for future starters and role players to increase depth. One player to keep an eye on is Smael Mondon from Paulding County.
