Offensive line

Georgia did lose four outstanding offensive linemen in Andrew Thomas, Solomon Kindley, Isiah Wilson, and Cade Mays. However, it also recruited the nation’s best group of offensive linemen in the 2020 cycle, according to Lindy’s Sports. No other SEC school was in their top five.

Here are the six offensive linemen that committed to Georgia during the 2020 cycle. (Rankings from 247Sports Composite).

This infusion of youth isn’t the only reason to have faith in the offensive line this season. Georgia also returns senior guards Justin Shaffer and Ben Cleveland, junior tackle Jamaree Salyer, junior center Trey Hill, redshirt-sophomore guard Warren Ericson, and redshirt-freshmen tackles Warren McClendon and Xavier Truss. These players are why Athlon Sports ranked Georgia’s offensive line group No. 10 in the nation.

Shaffer started against Notre Dame, Tennessee, and South Carolina at left guard. He has played in 26 games the last two seasons. Cleveland started at right guard against Arkansas State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and LSU. He also played in 27 games over the last two seasons, starting 16. Salyer has played in 26 games, making two starts, and seeing extensive snaps in eight games.
