With rain in the forecast, Georgia football’s run game will be a huge factor.

There is a 50% chance it will be raining when Georgia football and Florida take the field Saturday afternoon. This will make each team’s running game very important. Over the last two weeks, Georgia’s run game has come to life. They are averaging 4.93 yards per carry and 180 rushing yards a game according to cfbstats.com. A major part of that has been Zamir White. After a slow start, he has accrued 193 yards over the last two games.

Through Georgia’s first five games, White has carried the ball 90 times for 402 yards, averaged 4.47 yards per carry, and has scored six rushing touchdowns.

White is not the only Georgia running back that is finding success. Kendall Milton is making a name for himself as well. The true freshman has carried the ball 29 times 165 yards, an average of 5.69 yards per carry. James White has also begun to breakout this season. He has carried the ball 23 times for 122 yards, an average of 5.30 yards per carry.

Florida’s running game is No. 82 in the nation, averaging 133.75 yards a game and 4.78 yards per carry. The Gators struggled to move the ball on the ground against Texas A&M, gaining just 90 rushing yards against the No. 18 rushing defense in the nation. In fact, Florida’s running game was also held under 100 yards against South Carolina, gaining 80 yards against the No. 59 rush defense in the nation.

Florida gets a good bit of their yards on offense after the catch, Georgia is one of the best in the nation when it comes to getting opposing players to the ground.

Georgia football has the No. 5 rushing defense. They are allowing just 80 yards a game on the ground. The Bulldogs have allowed greater than 130 yards on the ground in their last two games though. So Florida may find some running room, especially with Julian Rochester missing the game and even if Jordan Davis suits up he will be playing with one arm.

Georgia is a little banged up when it comes to their run defense, but their running game is beginning to hit on all cylinders. If the rain grounds the air game Georgia football should be at an advantage. The Bulldogs could run away with this game and the SEC East for a fourth straight year if they can move the ball efficiently on the ground and stop Florida from doing the same.

If rain does become a factor that kind of environment would most assuredly favor the Bulldogs and their running game. Either way, whatever happens, make sure to tune into CBS at 3:30pm to see how this all plays out. You aren’t going to want to miss a thing.
