Georgia football has quite a few players on the injury list, who will play?

Georgia football travels to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks tonight at 7:30. However, there are quite a few players that won’t get into that game. Georgia has been hit hard by the injury bug this year, especially when it comes to their better players. However, it hasn’t just been the injury bug, two players that are out for tonight’s game were involved in car accidents.

Here is the list of players that are out, doubtful, or probable to play today against South Carolina according to 247Sports.com.

Out:

CB Kelee Ringo (torn labrum)
WR Dominick Blaylock (ACL)
S Richard LeCounte III (concussion and rib injuries)
DL Julian Rochester (ACL)
RB Kendall Milton (sprained knee)
WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (dislocated ankle)
ILB Trezman Marshall (shoulder)

Doubtful:
WR Tommy Bush (concussion)
DL Jordan Davis (elbow)

Probable:
ILB Monty Rice (sprained foot)

Four of the nine players that will miss this game are starters. Three of those four play on defense. The holes left by Davis and LeCounte are quite significant. LeCounte is the quarterback of the secondary and the run defense begins with the penetration that Davis is able to get on every snap. With these two out, Georgia’s defense has struggled the last two weeks. Georgia has given up 929 yards and 68 points since losing these two cogs in their defense.

The good news is Jalen Carter and Lewis Cine seem to be coming into their own as they get more snaps filling in for Davis and LeCounte. This should make the outlook for 2019 even better as Davis and LeCounte could be gone next year. Keep an eye on Carter and Cine as they look to make it three good games in a row.

Davis and LeCounte won’t be the only players missed in this game though, Milton has shown himself to be in the argument for the best running back on Georgia’s roster. It is debatable whether or not Milton would have been able to get the running game going against Mississippi State, however, there is reason to believe he could have gotten more than eight yards himself.

The only good news on Georgia’s injury list is that Rice will once again play through the pain of his sprained foot. Still expect to see a lot of Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker mixed in to give Rice some rest and to minimize how much Rice puts on that foot.

Even though there is a long list of players out for Georgia tonight they should have more than enough talent to get revenge against the Gamecocks tonight.
