Georgia football went up to Columbia and beat Missouri in the bitter cold.

Georgia football came screaming out of the gate in this one. On Missouri’s opening drive Georgia’s defense forced an interception and then seven plays later punched the ball into the endzone for the opening score. On Missouri’s following drive Georgia’s defense forced a three and out. Georgia would then quickly score again making it 14-0. This looked like it was going to be a blowout early.

However, Missouri would strike back. On Missouri’s third drive they would finally get the ball over Georgia’s goal line on a Connor Bazelak run to make it 14-7. Both teams would then exchange punts over the next four drives. One of which almost spelled disaster for Georgia when Kearis Jackson muffed it and almost turned it over to the Tigers inside Georgia’s red zone.

Missouri’s defense really shut down Georgia football’s offense in the second quarter. On three of their four drives, Georgia would end up punting. On one such drive, Missouri would end up blocking the punt and recovering the ball inside Georgia’s one-yard line. Larry Rountree III would then punch it in and tie the game at 14-14 with 1:20 left in the first half.

Georgia would once again take the momentum at the end of the half as George Pickens would score a touchdown on a play where Missouri was not only offside but also committed pass interference on Pickens. Pickens’ concentration on that play was phenomenal. He would bookend that score with another one to end Georgia’s first possession of the second half.

The JT Daniels to Pickens connection was very fruitful today. As Pickens would catch five passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. This was a coming-out party of sorts for Pickens as he has been pretty quiet this season. In fact, this was his first 100-yard game of the season. Pickens did miss two games earlier in the season due to injury and this could be him finally feeling like himself again. However, a lot of it also has to do with Daniels now being the quarterback.

Georgia would maintain momentum the rest of the way. Winning the game 49-14 while all four of Georgia’s running backs would get in the endzone. Daijun Edwards and Zamir White would also both go over 100-yards on the day. Georgia’s offense, as a whole, put up 615 yards on Missouri’s defense. Daniels was just shy of having 300 yards passing totaling 299 yards and three touchdowns.

Over the last three games, Georgia has averaged 41.7 points per game. That is better than everyone in the SEC other than Florida and Alabama. This Georgia offense is something to watch with Daniels at the helm. Todd Monken has finally been able to open up the playbook and it is showing up in the games.

It cannot be overstated how much getting Jordan Davis back has helped Georgia’s defense. Rountree rushed for just 16 yards on 14 carries, an average of just 1.1 yards per carry, on the day. He had rushed for over 150 yards in Missouri’s last two contests. Georgia’s rush defense was having none of that. In fact, Georgia held Missouri’s runners to just 22 yards on 22 carries.

Georgia football’s defense stood up in this game holding Missouri to just 14 points and 200 yards. The Junkyard Dawgs stuffed the Tigers on third down allowing them to only convert three of their 11 attempts. Georgia completely dominated Missouri in the second half, shutting them out and holding them to just 79 total yards.

This was a complete team win from top to bottom. This team looks like it will be a handful for anyone that has to come up against it this season. If Georgia wins out, winning the way they have over the last two games, there is a good chance that they could be ranked in the top 3 of next year’s preseason poll. Even higher possibly seeing as Alabama’s and Florida’s quarterbacks aren’t returning.
