Gunner Stockton, 2022 Five-star quarterback, has committed to Georgia football.

Kirby Smart has a knack for piling talented quarterbacks into his quarterback’s room. It looks like 2022 will be no different with the likes of Brock Vandagriff and Carson Beck already on Georgia football‘s roster. However, in true Smart form, there looks to be another highly rated quarterback joining the ranks next season. That quarterback being none other than former South Carolina commit Gunner Stockton.

Stockton is a five-star quarterback out of Tiger, Georgia. He is currently attending Rabun County High School. He stands 6-1 222 pounds. He and Brock Vandagriff had quite the showdown in 2020. Stockton showed that he is not just great at throwing the ball, but showed a lot of grit while running it as well. He is quite the competitor and does whatever he can to help his team win.

While at Rabun County, Stockton has passed for 9,518 yards and 122 touchdowns, while also completing 68.2 percent of his passes and throwing 16 interceptions. Stockton has thrown nearly eight touchdowns for every interception he has thrown. He also ran the ball 467 times for 3,416 yards, 7.3 yards per carry, while scoring 70 rushing touchdowns.

Rusty Mansell first broke the news on 247Sports.com that Stockton was committing to Georgia football. Here is what Stockton has to say about his commitment to Mansell:

"“The day after Coach Muschamp was fired I called Coach Smart and told him I was worried about what was going on at South Carolina,” Stockton said. “We talked about everything and he assured me that I was the quarterback that he wanted for the Class of 2022. My relationship with Coach Monken and Coach Faulkner has grown. I’m excited to compete for my home state team. I just feel really good about the team, the staff, the school, everything. I already have relationships with lots of the current players, and the recruiting Class of 2022 is going to be made up of guys I already have great relationships with. Plus, I couldn’t say no to Coach Smart twice. At Georgia, you always have a chance to win the SEC and be a National Champion. That’s my dream.”"

The addition of Stockton could mean that Georgia football has its best quarterback room since 2018 when Jake Fromm and Justin Fields were both in that room. Vandagriff, Stockton, and Beck will be the most talented quarterback grouping in the nation. The pairing of Smart and Monken has truly been something special already and will continue to be a great pairing for Georgia football.

Speaking of Monken, Stockton is the perfect fit for his offense. A duel-threat quarterback that can attack the defense threw the air and escape pressure while putting pressure on the defense with his ability to take off and run. Georgia football now has two very talented dual-threat quarterbacks on their roster for the 2022 season.
