Cleveland Browns

In 2020 the Cleveland Browns won a playoff game for the first time since 1994. However, When they matched up against the Kansas City Chiefs they didn’t have enough pieces in their secondary to match up with Patrick Mahomes and his arsenal of weapons. The Browns’ safeties combined for just three interceptions during the 2020 season. That is not going to get it done in today’s pass-happy NFL.

If the Cleveland Browns were to match up LeCounte with Denzel Ward and Andrew Sendejo they could have the makings of one of the best secondaries in the NFL (depending on how they filled out the other spots). LeCounte being added to a secondary with a shutdown corner like Ward and a true strong safety like Sendejo would give him the ability to roam centerfield, where he is most comfortable.

Joining the Browns would also mean a reunion for LeCounte and Nick Chubb who haven’t played together since 2017 when LeCounte was a freshman. That season Georgia football beat the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2018 Rose Bowl. Those Sooners were lead by none other than Brown’s quarterback Baker Mayfield. So being selected by Cleveland would be quite the situation for LeCounte.

LeCounte wouldn’t be the first Georgia football safety Cleveland has taken in the draft either. Back in 2004, the Browns selected Sean Jones in the second round. He led all strong safeties in interceptions in 2006 and 2007. LeCounte should have similar success if his name is called for Cleveland at some point in the 2021 NFL Draft.
