Georgia Football: An update on EA Sports College Football
By Eric Taylor
Georgia football’s logos, uniforms, and Sanford Stadium will be “In The Game.”
EA Sports has announced that they plan on bringing back their popular game franchise NCAA Football with a name change. The new name of the franchise will be College Football. They also announced that this game will most likely not come out for a few years. So the target for release will probably be about June 2023. What does this mean for Georgia football?
Well, EA Sports has already signed a licensing deal that will allow schools to have their real logos, uniforms, and stadiums in the game. One of the schools included in that agreement is the University of Georgia. So you will be seeing Georgia football’s uniforms, logos, and Sanford Stadium in the game. However, that is where the official licensing stops.
There will be no names and likeness of players in the game. There has never been an issue getting custom rosters for the game though. Just like Madden has now, NCAA football always had roster sharing. Now, Electronic Arts could choose to go the Maximum Football route and take that out of the game, but there is no reason to believe that will be the case at this time.
Besides, if the fans make the roster that is not on EA Sports but the fans themselves. All they did was provide the platform for which to play the game.
So prepare yourself to use Georgia football in Dynasty Mode and Road To Glory sometime between now and 2023. Hopefully, this time they will include all of Georgia’s uniforms and not just the home reds and away whites. It would be great if they threw in the 2020 throwbacks and the new and old black jerseys, and even the black helmets and pants seen against Florida in 2009.
However, even if all the uniforms aren’t in the game it is great that College Football is coming back to consoles and that the Georgia Bulldogs will be featured without having to be called the “Athens Hogs.” With the change in philosophy on the offensive side of the ball, playing as Georgia’s offense is going to be a huge draw when the game finally does release.
