The actions of former Georgia football player Isaiah Wilson are worrisome.
Former Georgia football player, Isaiah Wilson left Athens, Ga. for a promising career in the NFL. On April 23rd, 2020 Wilson was selected by the Tennessee Titans number 29 overall. He was a first-round pick and headed to a huge payday. Most thought this was a start to a great career for him and, at the time, they had no reason to think otherwise.
However, that was not the case. After signing his four-year $11,568,389 deal with the Tennessee Titans everything seemed to fall apart. According to ESPN, just a little over a month later, on September 11, 2020, Wilson was arrested for DUI. Four months later on January 7, 2021, Wilson was arrested again after leading police on a chase where he did speeds upwards of 140 mph, according to a report from the AJC. There was also marijuana and acid found in the car.

After all of this, the Titans traded their former first-round pick to the Dolphins. That didn’t last long either. He was released before he ever even practice with the team because he was late for his team physical, late for his onboarding process, and didn’t even show up for the Dolphins’ voluntary workouts which he had told Miami he would be participating in.
Wilson is just 22-years-old with his entire life ahead of him. Hopefully, someone in his circle will pull him to the side and tell him that this behavior is not ok and that it is costing him a chance to do something that not too many people get to do. If they really care about him they will tell him that it’s not even about the NFL, but this behavior could end up putting him in jail or worse.
When police arrested Wilson after the chase where he was going 140 miles per hour they found the car wrecked. That could have easily been the end of the road for Wilson right there. However, that is not the end of his story and he should really count his blessings and take that as a wake-up call.
This is the time where a loved one or someone close to him needs to get a hold of him and try to get him straightened out. The best thing for him right now is some structure. If that means checking himself into a rehab center, then that is what he needs to do. Whatever it takes to get him the help he is in need of right now.
The last thing any of us want to see is a headline of a 22-year-old losing their life because of decisions like the ones that Wilson has been making lately. Hopefully, he gets all of this worked out with or without football.
