There has been a dream in the hearts of Georgia football fans for many years now. That dream was for Bulldog Legend Hines Ward to join the beloved coaching staff. Ward was a do-it-all Swiss Army knife while in Athens. He played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, punt returner, kick returner, and even did a little punting. He was a throwback to football players of old.
Over his career at Georgia, he amassed 4,791 total yards, 19 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
Ward has too much experience to not share it with the next wave of players and that is exactly what he has decided to do.
Former Georgia football legend to coach at the college level.
Well, the dream of having Ward as part of Georgia’s coaching staff one day just took an interesting turn. Ward, who had been an offensive intern with the Steelers and an offensive assistant with the Jets, will begin his collegiate coaching career in the state of Florida. He has accepted a role on the coaching staff at Florida Atlantic, according to Field Yates of ESPN:

Florida Atlantic didn’t have any full-time assistant coaching jobs available to Ward will be working in a part-time role as reported by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. Cortez Hankton is the Passing Coordinator and Wide Receiver Coach for Georgia. The coaching staff also included two offensive quality control coaches in Buster Faulkner and Jacob Russell.
So as of now, there is no room for Ward to join Georgia football’s coaching staff. However, the fact that Ward is now coaching in the collegiate ranks should be a very positive sign for Georgia fans. As much as Georgia fans love and appreciate what Hankton has done for Georgia’s receivers, Ward would get a huge reception if he were to eventually be added to Georgia’s coaching staff.
