Georgia football quarterback JT Daniels patiently perused the NIL menu. After thinking it over for a little over a month, he decided two entrees was better than one.
Yesterday, Darren Rovell of The Action Network reported that Daniels inked a trading card deal that could put him in the same NIL stratosphere as Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
And today, Zaxby’s announced Daniels as a brand ambassador for the Athens-based chicken chain.
Both seem like prudent choices for the Georgia signal-caller. The card deal provides him with the opportunity for a lucrative monetization of his brand, while also providing him with the financial resources to share the wealth with his teammates.
By partnering with Zaxby’s, Daniels aligned himself with a growing business with its roots in The Classic City. Not only was the chicken chain co-founded by Georgia grad, Zach McLeroy, it’s largest franchise-owner is none other than former Dawgs football coach Ray Goff.
According to Rovell, Daniels admirably plans to share half of his earnings from the trading card deal with his teammates. Daniels preached at SEC Media Days that his role in the Georgia offense was to be a distributor, and it seems he is walking the walk in that role on and off the field.
No word yet on whether or not the deal with Zaxby’s comes with any all-you-can-eat brand ambassador privileges, although his offensive linemen would no doubt appreciate a Zax Family Pack or three on victory Sundays.
We are also openly advocating for WynnBet to put out a weekly prop bet during the season on how many times per game the announce team makes a Zaxby’s reference when commenting on a Daniels throw. If there’s a Week 1 prop for Zaxby’s references, with an O/U of 1, might bet the mortgage on it.
