Georgia Football: Week 9 vs. Missouri

  • Venue: Sanford Stadium
  • City: Athens, GA
  • Overall Record: Georgia leads 9-1
  • Last meeting: Georgia won 49-14

After their trip to Jacksonville, Georgia takes on Missouri between the hedges.

In year one of the new regime, the Tigers’ new head coach Eli Drinkwitz went 5-5 last season.

He has most of his starters back for the 2021 season, so Drinkwitz will have a little more trust in his guys.

Conor Bazelak returns as the Tiger’s starting quarterback. He completed 67.28% of his passes for 2,366 yards and seven scores. With another year under his belt, the redshirt sophomore will have some more confidence.

Missouri lost Jalen Knox to the transfer portal but has 6-4 receiver Keke Chism returning, who will give Bazelak a big target. Chism recorded 35 catches last year for 458 yards, so he will likely be one of Bazelak’s go-to guys.

Toting the rock will likely be Elijah Young or Tyler Badie, who recorded 242 yards last year, with the second-most yards behind Larry Roundtree.

Defensively, they gave up 32 points and 408 yards a game last season, but that was against some stiff opponents. The Tigers will be replacing some of their key playmakers from last year, so they will probably struggle again this season.

Last year the Dawgs defeated the Tigers 49-14 and could do whatever they wanted to offensively. JT Daniels threw for 299 yards while the running backs ran for 316 yards, averaging seven yards a carry and scoring four times.

Missouri’s offense was able to amass 178 yards on the ground and 200 through the air, but it was towards the end of the year, so Georgia had some guys banged up on defense.

With Georgia returning so many playmakers, last year’s result could be a good prediction for the 2021 game.

The Dawgs need to stay the course and keep the hammer down so they have no costly late-season slip-ups.

Score Prediction: 49-10

Projected 2021 Record: 9-0
