Georgia Football: Week 11 vs. Charleston Southern

  • Date: Nov. 20
  • Venue: Sanford Stadium
  • City: Athens, GA
  • Overall Record: Georgia leads 1-0
  • Last meeting:  Georgia won 55-9, 2014

Georgia’s last home game of the season will be against Charleston Southern as the Dawgs finally get through their SEC schedule.

The only other time these two teams faced off was in 2014 when Georgia beat the Bucs 55-9.

While the Bulldogs shouldn’t sleep on any team, this will be another game to let some of the youngsters get playing time.

Charleston Southern played their 2020 season in the spring, so the Bucs will have a football season for the second time in six months.

The Bucs only got four games in last year, and as they went 2-2 overall.

Charleston Southern likes to throw the ball as they averaged 251 yards a game. The Bucs have a dual-threat quarterback in Jack Chambers, who led the team with 192 rushing yards last year and two scores. He threw 998 yards for seven scores completing 63.31% of his passes.

One of Chambers’ top targets from last season, Cayden Jordan, returns after recording 15 catches for 274 yards and four touchdowns in those four games.

Defensively, Charleston Southern’s leading tackler Cody Cline returns as he recorded 40 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and one pass break up in the shortened season.

Another to look out for on their defense is Shaundre Mims, who led the team with 5.5 tackles for loss and had 22 total tackles.

The Bucs will have some experience returning for this upcoming season, but Georgia is far deeper and more talented.

Regardless of the opponent, Georgia needs to win this game in a landslide and show their dominance. The College Football Playoff committee looks at these “cupcake games,” and the Bulldogs need to make sure they don’t slip up and have a Georgia Southern situation again.

While I expect Charleston Southern to come out aggressive and find a little success, the Bulldogs will run away with it by the second half.

Score Prediction: 55-0

Projected 2021 Record:11-0
